Jayne on the mend

Jayne broke her wrist recently, but is hoping to return to work shortly. Thanks for all the great wishes.

Enterprise Zones announced by the Chancellor in his budget will lead to the creation of what the Government says will be a new era for Tyneside.

Two enterprise zones will be created in the North East, one in Teesside and one in Tyneside.

Speaking after the Budget announcement, Energy Secretary Chris Huhne said that he believed the measures announced yesterday would help secure thousands of jobs in the region.

Mr Huhne said that two firms, GE and Spanish group Gamesa, were actively weighing up major investment on Tyneside.

Council leaders in the North East local enterprise partnership, covering the seven councils from Northumberland to Durham, will meet to discuss with new chairperson Paul Walker.

Sunderland

Interestingly: Sunderland was announced in October 2010 as the fastest growing city in terms of business established in the past six months, adding 125 new companies, or about 2 per cent of the total business population.

This is great news for us, as we now cover schools and busineses in the area.
