LYNNE AND KAREN’S CHALLENGE OF A LIFETIME, CYCLING VIETNAM AND CAMBODIA FOR PROFFESOR WINSTON.

Bridge Road Medical Centre, Litherland, Practice Manager Lynne Creevy and Receptionist Karen Deeley have responded to an appeal by leading infertility expert Professor Robert Winston to join a tough, women –only cycling challenge in Vietnam and Cambodia to raise funds to improve the health of women and babies.

Lynne, 41, and Karen, 50, are joining a charity Women for Women Cycle Challenge and will cycle approximately 400 km from Vietnam to Cambodia.  They need to raise £6,200 to fund groundbreaking medical research work at a major new research centre in London and they are asking local people and companies to help them reach that target.

Funds raised by Cycle Vietnam and Cambodia will support women scientists and clinicians to specialise in research affecting women and their babies – empowering more women to lead in this field.  They will work in the the research centre to improve prevention, diagnosis and treatment of a range of devastating conditions which cause miscarriage, genetic diseases, infertility and cancer.  With nearly 250 babies dying every week in the UK from complications during pregnancy, their work has never been so essential for women and babies nationwide.

Women for Women is administered by Genesis Research Trust and Professor Winston in Chairman of both the trust and Women for Women.

The eleventh Women for Women cycling challenge will take place in November 2011.  Starting in Vietnam’s vibrant Ho Chi Minh City the group will cycle through rural landscapes, to the ancient temples of Angkor Wat in Cambodia.  They will cycle approximately 400 kms, taking time away from home and raising money for vital medical research.
